JOBSEEKERS, take note. The upcoming Trade & Career Fair 2009 is a timely opportunity for you given the recent easing of the economic situation and with more companies now looking to fill vacancies.
The fair, to be held at the Oval Concourse, 1 Utama Shopping Centre (New Wing) on July 6 and 7, promises numerous programmes that will undoubtedly benefit jobseekers, in particular school-leavers and undergraduates seeking employment.
The fair is organised by YourPartTime.com, KBU International College and Star-Jobs Online in partnership with the MCA ICT Resource Centre (MIRC), Junior Chamber International Malaysia (JCIM), Malaysia Entrepreneurs and Youth Entrepreneurs Malaysia. MYC! is the official youth magazine.
Confirmed participants include SnT Global Sdn Bhd, Great Eastern, One Casting Academy, Habib Jewels Sdn Bhd and Valdo Brandt International.
The exhibitors represent several different industries, giving jobseekers a range of choices.
There will also be resume assessment by Star-Jobs personnel who will be stationed at the nearby multimedia centre, Studio V, and at the Oval itself over three separate sessions.
“Jobseekers who need a tip or two on how to present their resume in a more impressive manner must not miss these sessions,” said Joyce Lee, senior executive, online (Star-Jobs).
Besides Lee, others conducting the session will be AP Search Management Recruitment Sdn Bhd director KH Teoh, Right Focus Consultants senior consultant Venu Menon and Raviji Consulting managing consultant Ravichandran Moorthy.
Check out www.star-jobs.com/help for the resume assessment schedule.
A CEO Live@Studio V programme will also be held concurrently with the fair. CEOs of various companies will talk about the outlook for their respective industries as well as the challenges they face.
Participants of the programme include Datuk Badlisham Ghazali (Multimedia Development Corporation), Husni Salleh (MAVCAP), Andrew Wong (MIRC Incubator Sdn Bhd), See Hoon Peow (KBU International College), Roshan Thiran (Leaderonomics), Munirah Looi (Brandt International), David Wong (SNT Global), Omar Merican (Bursa Saham Malaysia), Wayne Lim (SME Malaysia) and Hanson Toh (Google, Inc).
For those who want to serve the community, we have invited participants from the social and welfare sector like Datuk Paduka Marina Mahathir (Malaysian AIDS Council), Dr Hartini Zainudin (Yayasan Salam) and Iqbal Rahim (National Children’s Welfare Foundation).
“The programme will give the public a chance to learn about careers as well as startup opportunities from speakers with a wealth of knowledge,” said David Lee, director of YourPartTime.com.
The programme is jointly organised with Star-Jobs h.e.l.p. and will be featured on TheStarOnline.tv’s Career Channel.
There will be opportunities for live audience participation. The public are invited to send in their questions to the CEOs at ceo@yourparttime.com. If your questions are selected you will be invited for a face-to-face interaction with the CEOs during the event.
The Trade & Career Fair 2009 is still open to exhibitors albeit with limited spaces available. Those who are interested in taking part may visit www.YourPartTime.com/tcf, or contact Michael Tan at michael@YourPartTime.com or 016-338 4548
