MB: BN candidate a winning choice

Barisan Nasional candidate for the Kuala Terengganu by-election Senator Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh has the right winning factors in him, says Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said.

Ahmad said Barisan had made the right move in naming the deputy Home Minister as the candidate for the parliamentary constituency.

“He has the aptitude and charisma of a leader as desired by the grassroots,” he said after launching the local government draft plan for simultaneous development in Marang, Dungun and Besut here, yesterday.

Ahmad said he viewed Wan Ahmad Farid’s competency as a major force that could trash the Opposition party in the by-election.

On the poster war issue, the mentri besar said the state government had barred all political parties from putting up posters and banners across bridges in the city during the campaign period.

He said directives had been issued to the city council to act stringently against those who defied the ruling.

The ruling, he said, was made after the safety of road-users was taken into consideration.

“Too many posters and banners can pose a danger to motorists,” he added.

Ahmad also said the state government had approved the application from PAS to organise a gathering to announce the name of its candidate at the state stadium in Batu Burok, here.
