How To Approach?

Making the First Move
This can be the hardest step in beginning a relationship. Sometimes, if one is too shy or scared, it's the start and end, and nothing ever happens. If you do take the chance, you may be nicely surprised. Even if you are rejected, at least you took the step and found out.

What should you do to make the first move? Here are a few tips:

1) Be Confident.
Don't be scared of rejection. Yes it might happen, but if you are always afraid, you will never be with the one you desire. Furthermore, if you plan and prepare your move, you can increase the chances that he/she will be interested in you too. Having confidence in yourself will come across in your behaviour and how you talk. You don't want to look like an insecure puppy who is afraid of being whipped. You want to look like a popular, self assured and friendly person. Someone people want to be with. Don't overdo it of course, people don't like snobbish jerks either.

2) Plan and Prepare
A well planned approach can boost your confidence and chances of success, especially if you have done your research. Find out what the person likes, what they are interested in. Plan out your wardrobe, dress well and look good. Before making your move, make sure that the person is in a good mood, and they are receptive. Say something that interests them and captures their imagination. Ask an unusual question that will get their attention. Don't use a corny pick up line! That will just lower your estimation in their eyes.

3) Act Natural
You may be nervous, but don't let that influence your behaviour. You want to come across as a friendly person. Don't talk too much or ask too many questions, you might come across as desparate, and that definitely puts people off.

4) Practice makes perfect
The more practice you have in talking to people, approaching them and making new friends, will make it easier for you to make a move on someone. Improve your social skills if you feel you need to. Practice doing things that takes you out of your shell. This will make it easier for you to make the first move next time.

5) Be Friends
If you are not friends already, it wouldn't hurt to become friends with the person first. Making friends is easier than trying to pick up, and this will also give you a chance to get to know the other person better. You might find that you don't really like him or her at all. Or you might find that you are perfect for each other, and they ask you out first!

If you really like someone, don't be afraid to make the first move. It will be worth it whatever they say.
