Malaysia condemns terror attacks in India

The Government of Malaysia has condemned the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, which have claimed more than 100 lives.

Wisma Putra said in a statement yesterday that the Government is shocked and saddened over this senseless act of violence.

“The Government of Malaysia condemns in the strongest terms, the horrific terrorist attacks on a number of major public places in Mumbai.”

The statement also said Malaysia remained firmly committed to the fight against terrorism and in engaging in a constructive manner, all regional and international efforts in combating terrorism.

In Putrajaya, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi advised Malaysians wishing to travel to Mumbai to check with Wisma Putra on the state of security in the city.

“Malaysians, who have family members working or vacationing in Mumbai, should also inform Wisma Putra and ask their relatives to contact our consular office,” he said after presenting Quality Day awards to government departments.
